Arsenal legend Robert Pires has named Liverpool star Mohamed Salah as the best player in the Premier League and his nomination for the 2024 Ballon d’Or proves some people don’t know anything about football.
Salah was not name in the 30-man shortlist for this year’s prestigious award, despite scoring 25 goals in 44 games. With Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri eventually taking home the prize. But Pires suggests the 30-year-old should have been on the shortlist at the very least.
“Mohamed Salah is the best player in the Premier League,” Pires told MBC MASR 2. “He has a great mentality and his play doesn’t surprise me because he is one of the best players in Europe and in the world.”
“In Egypt you know he’s the best player in the national team, but what he’s done with Liverpool is incredible. He’s maintain his level for years in a variety of roles, scoring goals and providing assists.”
